Code: Grow and Peer to Peer University are seeking a creative, organized, and community minded Social Media Intern to support digital storytelling and audience engagement during the summer. This role is ideal for a student or emerging communications professional who is excited about education, technology, community impact, and creating content that helps people connect with meaningful opportunities.
The Social Media Intern will help grow awareness of both organizations by supporting content creation, campaign planning, audience engagement, and day to day platform management. The intern will work closely with staff to highlight programs, events, learner stories, partnerships, and community voices.
About the Role
The Social Media Intern will help bring the work of Code: Grow and Peer to Peer University to life online. This person will support content across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels. The intern should be comfortable writing clear and engaging copy, creating simple visual content, and helping maintain a consistent brand voice.
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants hands on experience in nonprofit communications, digital marketing, and mission driven storytelling.
Responsibilities
- Create and schedule social media posts for Code: Grow and Peer to Peer University
- Draft captions, short form copy, and promotional content for programs, events, and announcements
- Assist with content planning using a social media calendar
- Capture and organize photos, videos, quotes, and stories from programs and events when available
- Create simple graphics, reels, stories, or other digital assets using Canva or similar tools
- Monitor engagement across platforms and help respond to comments or messages as appropriate
- Track performance metrics and help prepare brief reports on reach, engagement, and audience growth
- Support campaign development for summer programs, learner recruitment, events, and community storytelling
- Help ensure content aligns with organizational voice, values, and goals
- Research social media trends, relevant hashtags, and peer organizations for inspiration and best practices
Qualifications
- Current college student, recent graduate, or emerging professional with interest in communications, marketing, journalism, media, education, or a related field
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to tone, clarity, and detail
- Familiarity with major social media platforms, especially Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Comfort creating basic visual content using Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments
- Interest in education, digital access, workforce development, and community centered programming
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Photography, short form video, or basic design experience is a plus
- Experience managing social media for a student group, campus organization, nonprofit, or small business is helpful but not required
